[Sarah Polley Bio]

Sarah Polley was born on January 8, 1979 in Toronto, Ontario where she lived with her parents, Michael and Diane, who were both involved in show business. Sarah currently lives in Toronto with husband David Wharnsby.

Sarah became involved with acting at a very young age and is known for her role as Sarah Stanley on CBC’s Road to Avonlea (1989-1996). She left the popular television series after it was picked up by the Disney Channel.

After leaving the show, Sarah made the difficult transition from child star to respected actor. She starred in Atom Egoyen’s The Sweet Hereafter (1997) which earned her critical acclaim and a Genie nomination.

Sarah has gone on to act in more than 30 films, mostly Canadian. She’s ventured into the Hollywood film scene on several occasions. She starred in the teenage cult favourite Go (1999) and, most recently, in the blockbuster remake of Dawn of the Dead.

Other career highlights include Guinevere (1997), My Life Without Me (2003) and the recently released Siblings (2005).

Sarah is currently exploring her talents as a writer and director.
